Adult Ridgebacks Available
Maybe its not the right time for a Ridgeback puppy. Perhaps the time doesnt permit the training and attention to detail that a puppy needs, such as house breaking, and overall training? What about a younger Ridgeback that is fully house trained and more?
"Meet Driver", a female Rhodesian Ridgeback that has become available. She is looking for a faithful home without Children, preferably. She may be impatient with children not of her own family, Although she lived comfortably with children in her own family just fine, outsider's children seem to bother her. We have noted absolutely no signs of aggression, so it is puzzling to us what could have caused her former owners to become alarmed about her reaction to unknown children.
She is completely house trained and sweet of temperament, gets along well with other dogs. She is up to date on all vaccinations, including Rabies. Drop a line for more information and a return call to: Mark - rrfamily@ridgebackpuppies.com
Driver's Journal

Driver was dropped off today by her owner. She had all of her documents, including vet visit records, akc registration, rabies documentation, etc. She is very over-weight. I can see a greenbean and kibble mixture in her future while she is being fostered.
She let me take her leash without issue. I thought it best to kennel her in a large Great Dane crate while she got used to us, and we to her. Later in the day I offered her food, and she would not eat, nor drink water. She is very quiet. I allowed her out of her crate later in the evening, she sniffed around a bit, then returned to her crate on her own. Leaving the crate door open was no enticement, She simply, lay in her crate.

Offered food and water in the morning. She basically, checked them out, but wouldnt eat or drink. Out to the potty area and she did urinate.
Throughout the day she has opportunity to leave her crate, but chooses to remain there. Half-hearted investigation of the food and water supply, She did at least wet her tongue a bit with water, and eat a couple of pieces of kibble.

Driver is really starting to worry me. She licks the water bowl once, but no substntial intake of water. Again eating a few bits of kibble in the morning. Crate door is open much of the day for free roaming, but she still chooses to remain in her crate. She has fluffy bedding, a nyla bone and a few toys. She is doing #1 and today #2, but I am concerned that although she urinates, she is not taking in any water.
Wednesday afternoon, she take four or five slurps of water, eats a little kibble! Yay!! Then, I feed her a bananna treat. She liked that a lot. We fed her 2 oranges, which she accepted graciously, and that made us feel better that she at least got some moisture in her system.

This morning went much better. I could hear her chewing on her Nyla Bone! Now when I let her out of her crate she is roaming around and investigating her surroundings. She barks at me, and I figured out she wants to go to the bathroom. Does number 2.
Thursday evening, she eats a half a can of green beans mixed with her kibble and takes several good laps of water! Not only that, but she playfully chases me around the house!. Driver is Play motivated??? Whoo Hoo!!! She is starting to interact with me and thats a happy day!

Morning time, Driver eats half a can of green beans, with some of the water that comes with it along with a cup of kibble. She laps up a good amount of water. A few minutes later she is barking at me again. Out we go, and she does her business. Now thats what I call house broken!
She gets free roam of the house, and is really checking everything out. She really likes the big windows, and frequently looks out at the trees and birds.
We are playing together for awhile each time I let her out of her crate. She is very gentle with her mouth. I have never felt the least bit of discomfort from her playfuless. What I would say at this point is that she will need someone that likes to interact playfully with their dog - Or, a family with other dogs to play with. She really seems to want to be part of a dog social structure.

Driver is chipper now. Comes right out of her crate, and hangs around me and explores the house. Very playful.
Its muddy in the dog pen and she doesnt like that. She wants to get her business done and get out of there! Can't blame her, I guess.
I introduced her to my boy, gentle Spencer. She really likes him, but, he hasnt met her before, and so he grumbles at her. Shes like "Awww, c'mon man", and is not deterred from his slight protest at her inquisitive investigations. I'll put them together more and more as time goes on to allow Spencer time to get used to her. I may introduce her to Connie later today, as Connie likes other dogs too. Driver clearly likes the company of other dogs.

Driver grows steadily more confident by the day... Acts like a Ridgeback should. She is playful now, greets us and looks forward to playing with the other dogs. She is eating and drinking well.
She is well trained. Goes in her crate on command, without a lot of coaxing. Sits and lies down, and tells us when she has to go to do her business. She is extremely well house broken. She is very familiar with what the term "go for a walk" means. She is very quiet, and doesnt complain at all about being in the crate. However, its easy to tell when she wants out because she sits up and pays attention. You can leave her crate door open, and she knows it is "her place", and retires there without being coaxed.
Driver is affectionate, and will easily find her place with someone who proves to be trustworthy. Often she walks over and just lays her head in my lap for a scratch behind the ears, or just to say "hi". If you can make the commitment to her, she will most definitley make the commitment to you.
